Fashionista Wannabe

Parker and I are back at BYU for what is my last semester! Woot woot! Can you believe that? Where has the time gone? I can't believe that in just a month and a half, I will be taking my last final exams ever. That's such a beautiful thought!

This semester has been different from the last seven for a major reason. I'm not dancing! *gasp* I know, I know... but it gets to a point where you have to take those last few classes that you need to graduate and then times for the classes that you want to take versus time of classes you have to take don't mesh. Its been interesting to say the least! I am, however, choreographing my senior project that will be presented in the Senior Showcase next month so that's keeping me on my toes.

Not dancing this semester has turned me into a fashionista wannabe. I used to be a girl that would wear sweats or leggings 4 times a week at least. Being a dance major made that so easy because all of your classmates do the same thing and no one wants to change a billion times a day and then carry around their change of clothes along with their school books and laptop. So that's just how it was, I looked sloppy. This semester, I have probably worn sweats or leggings twice a month only! This is SO different for me. I actually have time to get ready in the morning. I never knew that I would like dressing up so much as well as doing my make up and hair in different ways. I'm experimenting with fashion for the first time and I am loving it!

With that being said, I am no fashion blogger nor am I good at replicating make up and hair tutorials found online but I have loved looking on Pinterest and popular fashion blogs lately and I've been trying out the styles I like. Its been such a fun adventure and I'm loving the extra time I have to play with these kinds of things for the first time!

One of the tutorials that I tried was called the Double Dutch Braid (found on barefootblonde.com) and no, it didn't turn out exactly like the tutorial (unfortunately), but it did turn out ok enough for me to go out in public and not feel hideous! I actually got a few compliments on it! haha I will definitely be trying this hairstyle again and hopefully, with some more practice, I will get it to look more like the tutorial.

Xoxo,
C

Our Love Story: Part 3

"Here's the thing about this love story of ours. Its long. And drawn out. And mushy-gushy. And even a bit cheesy. But it's true. And I've decided to take my time writing it, capturing all the special details of those moments I never want to forget. So if mushy-gushy, cheesy love stories aren't your thing, I totally get that. Just know that I'm writing this as a gift - to my family, and my children, and their future children - and also, for [Parker] and me - so that on those days when the kids are screaming, the laundry is overflowing and the bills are rolling in...on those days when it all just seems so hard, we'll have this to remind us of those first moments when we fell in love. And if sappy, detail ridden love stories are your thing, well then you've come to the right place." -Ashley Stock

The Meeting

I don't remember the specific date. It was a day in July. I had just arrived home after a shift out in Waterton scooping ice cream at The Big Scoop. I was still in my work clothes (an XXL pink Big Scoop shirt because I was hired later and got the last pick of them). I had hat/visor hair and ice cream up and down my arms and under my fingernails. I got a text from Tessa saying that she was at my house, so I ran outside to meet her and our friends. I hopped into the back seat of Travis Hartley's truck and began excitedly chattering about something or other with Tessa. About a minute later I noticed someone in the front passenger seat that I'd never seen before. He was sitting there quietly listening to us, so I simply asked, "Who are you?"

Summer 2010
***

Since adding Jordan and Tessa (who, by the way, are my two best friends for those of you who don't know) on Facebook the previous summer, Parker had talked to both of them a few times throughout the year. He had other girls in Ohio that he had dated over the year, so neither Jordan nor Tessa occupied his thoughts too much. They were just nice girls for him to chat with over the internet, but when he did talk to them, he always had fun and was his funniest most witty self. He had plans to go to Cardston again during the summer of 2010 to go on 'Joseph's Legacy' with the youth his Grandparents' stake. He and his sister, Rylie, went to Canada about a week before the trek was to begin and during that week, Parker's grandma kept telling him that he should ask Jordan out.

Summer 2009
***
Parker Hollingsworth had been going to Cardston annually during the summers to visit his grandparents as a little kid. It was one of his favourite vacations and he always looked forward to those weeks that they would spend up north. He loved walking to the swimming pool with his cousins and spending hours going off the ball and jumping off of the diving board. He loved spending his pennies and change on the penny candy and slurpees at Reddi Mart. When he was 17 years old, Parker came to Canada again for a couple weeks during the summer (2009) with is family. They went to a few of the plays at the local theatre and the cute, bubbly, blonde actress (Jordan (Crawford) Zemp) on stage caught Parker's attention. He went ahead and added her on Facebook, having never even spoken to her in person. Jordan accepted his friend request and Parker began his days as a Facebook stalker.

Coming up!!

I love love. I am more in love than I ever could have imagined and it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Coming up soon on my blog will be a series of posts on our love story.. how Parker and Chelan came to be. I have been dying to have it all in writing for myself and Parker as well as our future kidlets. I figure this will be a fun way to do that! Perhaps we'll even be so lucky as to get some of it from Parker's perspective :)
