How We Wore It | Braided

We are officially 2 for 2 with our 'How We Wore It' posts for 2018 woot woot! Posting on the last day of the month - I'd call it a success. And it's a very special day at that because it's one of my very best friend's birthday and she happens to do this lil How We Wore It Series with me. Happy birthday Jordan!

Jordan is one of the people that I look up to most in this world. She's always so happy and positive and reminds me of sunshine. I think to myself often, "Be more like Jordan!" and I'm not just saying that because it's her birthday, I'm saying it because it's true. I want to be more like her. I hope your birthday is as amazing as you are, Hordy! Love you!

And just a quick trip down memory lane because these pictures are hilarious. I obviously couldn't be taken seriously at any moment during high school lol And it's also proof that Jordan has never had a bad hair/makeup/wardrobe day in her life! If I could have anyone be my personal fashion assistant and tell me what to wear every day, it would be Jordan.
I don't know how I put that velvet jumpsuit on bc if you know me at all, you know I won't even touch velvet. It gives me the shivers even thinking about touching it. But this photo CRACKS ME UP!

This was from one of our basketball tournament trips and I remember thinking that we looked SO GOOD in this picture.
Hordy and I cheered and danced together in high school. Such good memories!

Now onto our 'How We Wore It' post for today! We're featuring a trend that has really picked up attention in the last 5 years or so, I'd say and that's braids. I really don't remember braids being super trendy growing up or even in college? Maybe I just wasn't with it lol Or maybe it was because it was before IG and Pinterest and I'm not creative enough to come up with some of the amazing things people do with their hair now. Anyway, I'm a fan of braids and I've spent a lot of time practicing and learning how to braid my own and hair and other peoples hair. I'm still not great at it but I think I can hold my own pretty well.

Not sure why I chose the braids that I did for this post today but we're going with it. I was inspired by my sister's hair in these photos. I actually did her braids for her which I'm quite proud of. Matlin is spunky enough that she can pull this off but I'm not sure I have it in me... I feel like I'm too old now or something lol.

We had also talked a bit about featuring a 'statement piece' so I through on a statement necklace for good measure. Is that still a thing people are wearing? I don't even know but it's one of my favorite pieces of jewelry I own! I love how it always dresses up any outfit and I feel a bit fancier wearing these jewels!

Be sure to check out my lovely friends! You don't want to miss how they wore their braids! <3

Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Ardene
Shirt: Gift from Chatbooks
Jean Jacket: Forever 21
Necklace: I honestly can't remember! I'm the worst 'fashion' blogger cuz everything is always old, sold out, or I got it from my mom lol. But I'm loving this necklace!

#VirtueMoir

After the 14 Days of Love posts ended, I needed about a week break from blogging. I think I deserve it after posting every single day for 2 weeks, right? But I'm back and excited about a few things I have up my sleeve.

You blog followers are fun and I like you. Thanks for being here and being interested in my life.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I'm super invested in the Canadian figure skating duo, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. I had seen their Moulin Rouge ice dancing routine on Facebook before they performed in two nights ago at the Olympics and I was instantly hooked on them and their chemistry. I'm kicking myself for going to bed early on Monday night rather than staying up to watch them win the gold {insert 'Ugh' emoji here}. And if you know me at all, you know that I'm obsessed with love. Hello, 14 days of LOVE! I love talking about products, food, and people I love. I love a good romance novel. Rom coms are my jam - did you see my Instagram stories over the weekend?? You really should follow me on IG is what I'm saying here. Jk, but really. I LOVE LOVE! And Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are in love. I'm convinced. Do you see the way they look at each other? You can't deny it! And the rest of the world sees it, too. He freaking mouthed the words 'I love you' along with the song while they were performing, you guys. It's real!

Here are some of my favorite tweets that have actually made me LOL!

That last one is exactly how I feel. I just want them to kiss and tell us all what we want to hear! That they are madly in love and will spend retirement married to each other while they bring beautiful ice dancing babies into this world to win more gold medals for Canada.

COME ON SCOTT! MAKE A MOVE! Do it for your country!

Sigh. #TessaAndScott #VirtueMoir

14 Days of Love: Day 14 | Parker David

I saved the best for last especially since it's our 4 year wedding anniversary today but just before I get talking about how much I love my husband, Parker, I have to give an honorable mention shout out to potatoes. I was intending to write an entire post on my love of potatoes but somehow other things just kept coming up but I knew I couldn't go through 14 days of things I love without mentioning potatoes. I love potatoes. They are my favorite food - in all the different forms. Fries, chips, mashed, funeral, cheesy, baked, scalloped, you name it. My mouth is watering. I just thought you should know that I love potatoes.

Now that that's out of the way, I love my husband Parker. He is the thing that makes me the happiest in life. You can read Our Love Story here if you haven't already! It's my favorite and I think it's so important to document the big and little moments that led to us falling in love so we have that to look back on when we are old and our memories are failing us and also for our children to read about. I haven't finished writing it all out so you can expect more installations of our story to be written soon!

Let me tell you about this stellar husband of mine. He is funny. He is thoughtful. He is talented. He is driven and ambitious. He is the hardest worker I know (I feel like lots of people say this about their significant other but, no, Parker works harder lol I'm confident in that and feisty about it). He is attentive. He is generous. He is kind. He is athletic. He is focused. He is oh so smart. He is handsome. He is adventurous. He has succeeded in pretty much everything he's ever set his mind to. He is pretty close to perfect. He is my better half and pushes me to become a better person every single day. I'm pretty dang lucky and blessed to have him in my life and I'm getting really emotional writing this so I should probably stop while I can still see the screen...

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the last 4 years of marriage :).

14 Days of Love: Day 13 | Dancing

How did we get here so fast? These last two weeks have seriously flown by. I couldn't go this whole 14 days without posting about my love of dancing. I've been dancing since I was 3 years old and my first real memory is from when I was 4 so I can literally say that I can't remember a time where dancing wasn't a part of my life.
I always knew that I wanted to teach dance when I grew up. I remember being in high school and the devil's spawn of student teachers asked our class who thought they knew what they wanted to be when they grew up and I raised my hand. She asked me what I wanted to be and I said a dance teacher and she said, "Well I hate to break it to you but that's probably not going to happen. You're most likely going to change your mind at some point and do something else." Her comment only made me want to pursue my dream even more. And look at me now Miss Tupkull (I have no idea how to spell her name). I'm living my dream and couldn't be happier about it! Take that! lol can you tell I disliked her?
Anyway, I love dancing. Tap is my favorite. When I was being interviewed for my position at the dance studio I currently work at, my boss asked me what my favorite style of dance was and I told her about my love of tap. I got so excited about it that I started crying right there in my interview. I believe those tears are what got me the job hahah actually we've talked about that since then and the tears definitely played a part! But really! When I'm in a tap class and suddenly everyone gets the steps and we are all tapping together and it's loud and in unison and UGH IT JUST MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!!! There's really nothing like it. Good cramp rolls make me giddy. I love contemporary/lyrical, jazz, and ballet, too! But tap just has a special place in my heart.

You know what other kinds of dancing I enjoy? The weird-get-your-spouse's-attention kind of dancing where you do something completely and utterly ridiculous just to get them to look up from studying for a minute or two, even if it's just to scoff at your absurdity. I also love the nobody-is-home-so-I'm-going-to-try-to-twerk kind of dancing. The best-friends-making-a-music-video-while-slap-happy-at-3-am kind is also a particular favorite of mine. I just love to be weird and sometimes I'll get up during commercials and boogie to the background music. The really weird kind of dancing where you think to yourself "if anybody saw me doing this, they would disown me" but you kind of wish that there was a fly on the wall to witness your amazing moves at the same time. That's the best and just feels good, ya know? Like Meredith Grey and Christina Yang say, "Just dance it out."

What's your favorite kind of dancing?

14 Days of Love: Day 12 | Traveling

I love traveling. Love, love, love, love, love it. Parker and I have done quite a bit of traveling in our 2-days-short-of-4-years-of-marriage. I am happiest when I am with the people I love under the sun in my swimsuit by some water. It truly is my happy place!

Another thing I love is making travel videos! You can see the very first one I ever made here! lol It cracks me up with its low quality and tiny screen, and how young we were but it was oh so fun. Here are a couple of other ones here, here, and here that I've made in the last few years and they just bring me so much happiness! There's something so fun about capturing memories on video and putting them together to go with a fun song!

One of our most recent vacations we went on was a sailing trip in the Caribbean! Parker had been sailing once as a teenager and he just knew that I would love it. And he was right! It was a blast! We got to go on Parker's Uncle Scott and Aunt Jolynn's catamaran called the Liahona with some family and it was such an adventure! It was unlike anything I'd ever done before. We flew into Saint Lucia and sailed down to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. My favorite place we visited was called Tobago Cays. The water is so crystal clear turquoise (or should I say turkwise? lol inside joke #sorrynotsorry) and there are so many fish! We anchored right next to the little island that Jack Sparrow gets stranded on in Pirates of the Caribbean which was so cool. We played Spikeball on the beach, snorkeled, kayaked, paddle boarded, went swimming, suntanned, and played with the drone.

My favorite part of the trip was seeing all the wildlife. I am not an animal person AT ALL so this really surprised me but we saw dolphins, stingrays, sea turtles, squids, so many fish, and some of our group saw a little baby shark!

I've compiled our amature drone footage with Gopro footage and camera footage to a fun video to share our trip if you'd like to take a look! Just scroll to the bottom of this post past the photos from our trip to see it :).
This is the arch from Pirates of the Caribbean where they have skeletons hanging.

Be sure to select 1080p HD for the best quality!

Doesn't that just make you want to go on a trip to the beach right this second? What's your dream vacation? I am dying to go to Hawaii and Parker really wants to go to Italy so those are both high on our bucket list!
