Our Love Story: Part 9 | The First Kiss

"Here's the thing about this love story of ours. Its long. And drawn out. And mushy-gushy. And even a bit cheesy. But it's true. And I've decided to take my time writing it, capturing all the special details of those moments I never want to forget. So if mushy-gushy, cheesy love stories aren't your thing, I totally get that. Just know that I'm writing this as a gift - to my family, and my children, and their future children - and also, for [Parker] and me - so that on those days when the kids are screaming, the laundry is overflowing and the bills are rolling in...on those days when it all just seems so hard, we'll have this to remind us of those first moments when we fell in love. And if sappy, detail ridden love stories are your thing, well then you've come to the right place." -Ashley Stock

I remember that Parker's face was very close to mine and he was looking at me. I was looking at the TV pretending to watch the movie, but in my head I was thinking, "If I just turn to look at him, he's gonna kiss me."
...so I thought, "Why not?" and turned my head and Parker kissed me, just like I knew he would. And it was really good. So good, in fact, that we kept kissing. And kissing. And kissing. And we kept kissing until I noticed that my lips were kind of feeling funny. So when we finally separated, I noticed that my lips had swelled up. And not just a little bit, you guys. They swelled up BIG TIME. (Side note: They haven't done this since then so I still don't know how that happened....) Imagine this picture below, except all the swelling all over Hitch's face was concentrated to my lips.
Parker turned on the lights and I'm sure he was thinking, "Who is this ogre?" But he was sweet and inspected them for me. Then I made him hold my hand in public while he walked me home.

As I stumbled into bed, I remembered that I had 8:30 am church in just a few short hours... and to make matters worse, I was supposed to speak. Had I prepared my talk? No. So did I skip church? Yes. Did I have someone tell the bishop that I was sick because I didn't want to speak with my swollen lips? Yes. Did the bishop call that person up to speak in my place? Yes. Did the bishop also call up the other Canadian in the ward aka my best friend to also speak in my place? Yes. Did my best friend pretty much break her finger in a car door on her way home from church to yell at me as a result? Yes.

So... #parkerandchelan's first kiss was awesome and changed my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world, swollen lips and all!
